Fourth of July. In the U.S.
Nothing better.
We started the day off with the Spicewood holiday parade. Small (and I mean small) town at its finest. It started at 9 am. We were home by 9:20, which included the drive home. But as small as it was, it was Americana at its finest - there was a color guard, and a fire engine, and kids with their bikes decorated in streamers. There was the town marshall, and candy, and people lining the streets. So, as tiny as the parade itself was, it made you swell with pride. Because no matter how short, a parade that celebrates your freedom, in the end, is still a parade.
And this is what happened about 2 minutes after we got home...

So, we went lake jumping...

And boat riding...
And tubing...
And after an adult beverage (or two), it was time to head to the fire pit for fireworks and s'mores, and sparklers, and spooky faces. And finally, some night swimming.
