Last weekend was Stinkerbell's birthday. Which meant it, in our summer of trips, it was her turn to choose. I helped a bit by giving her a short list of fun places she might like to go, even though I knew what she was going to pick before I even asked - Legoland. We are lucky enough to live within driving distance of the one in Germany. So, we got home from Berlin, did the laundry, re-packed our suitcases and were off again just 4 days later. Back to Germany, but in the opposite direction.
The plan was for us to pick B up from the airport and get on the road. The plan didn't work out. B's flight from Geneva was grounded due to a suicidal bird, and they couldn't get him into Prague until after 4 pm. Add to that a 4 hour drive to Legoland and we would not get in until after the girls bedtimes. With a full weekend ahead of them, we didn't want to start them off sleep deprived. Plan B (pun intended). He caught the first flight to Munich, then the train to Gunzburg, and a taxi to the resort. The girls and I headed out just after 1 pm, so that we would meet up about the same time. And it worked out perfectly, as we met up in time to have dinner together.
And then we even had some time before bed so that they could play out front of our hotel room. There is not much in the town of Gunzburg, mostly Legoland, so the best place to stay is on site. And they have made that a very attractive proposition. They have a few options - camping (no go from B), the hotel shaped like a castle and the individual cabanas. We chose the cabanas because it allowed us two separate rooms. And because it was located right next to the vast playground...
And the second reason we chose it was because MadHatter is obsessed with Indiana Jones and all things Egyptian right now. Which means so is her sister. Guess what the theme of our room, and the surrounding area was...
I won't bore you with details of each day at the park. If you have ever been to a theme park, then you know the drill and what we did. We rode rides, we ate park food and we snapped silly pictures. It's all the same everywhere in the world. So I will leave you with some quick snapshots, and maybe a few comments...Enjoy. We did.

I chose level 5 - the highest - because it was just me. It was a bit crazy.
MadHatter and Papa did level 1 (they had no choice, MadHatter wasn't tall enough to go any faster). Stinkerbell wasn't tall enough, but wouldn't have done it anyway (refer to her roller coaster video...)
The X-Wing was fun, but the roller coasters were the big draw...
There were minions. She wanted one. Papas will do anything. Even play carney games.
We don't have a minion.
But he is still her knight in shining armor.
We ate dinner. We rode bikes. We went to bed. It was someone's birthday in the morning after all...
We did a small dance when we arrived...and got right to it.

And a few minutes later we were in our next destination - Venice.

After the fight with Vader and all of that excitement it was time for lunch, and to plan the final part of our afternoon. It was getting a bit more crowded - we had to wait in line up to 10 minutes! - so we had to plan wisely.
We headed back to the room a bit early so that we could have a small party before heading to our dinner celebration. She got...wait for it...Lego's. And wanted to put them together that instant. But we had a cupcake to eat and a park to play at, so we had to get moving...
It was a fabulous vacation and I was told that it was the best Birthday Ever. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip, Stinkerbell.
