Songs from Around the World

Tuesday, March 8

For the past several months, the second and fourth grader classes have been learning about music from around the world.  They are not only learning to appreciate the music and sounds of other cultures but also about how different types of music can be put together to make new songs/sounds.  On Thursday, the kids got all dressed up and headed back to school with families in tow to present a medley of songs.  It was an hour well spent and we are so proud of all of the kids for their hard work.

MadHatter and her friend A are ready to perform.  Stinkerbell and A's sister L got dressed up in support of their big sisters.
While waiting in line to enter the auditorium, we discovered a drawing by MadHatter that had been posted on the Art Boards.  The drawing was to representing people in action and to understand body parts/scale.  I think she nailed it.
We picked up our program and settled in to watch.

Please feel free to enjoy the program in short videos.

Tynom, Tanom - Slovak/Czech Song

Shalom Chaverim - Israeli Folk Song

Kalinka - Russian Folk Song

Rocky Mountain - American Folk Song
